Overview
This article provides step-by-step processes on changing the license type of an event source.
Process
In GFI EventsManager 2012, you can choose to license your Event Source with two options:
-
Workstation license
- In assigning this type of license to an event source, EventsManager will be able to process Windows Events only on workstations.
-
Server license
- In assigning this type of license to an event source, EventsManager will be able to process and collect all type of events (i.e. Windows Events, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Syslog, Text Logs, SQL Audit, and Oracle Audit Logs).
Changing the type of license and the type of logs that EventsManager can process can be done in two ways:
Changing the License Type of an Entire Node
- Navigate to Configuration > Event Sources.
- Expand 'All event sources'.
- Right-click the desired server group and choose Properties > Licensing Type.
- Select the desired license type.
- Click OK.
Changing the License Type for a Specific Event Source
- Navigate to Configuration > Event Sources.
- Expand 'All event sources'.
- Select the event source in the group.
- Right-click the event source and choose Properties > Licensing Type.
- Select the desired license type.
- Uncheck the option 'Inherit license type from parent group'.
- Click OK.
Note: If you start to collect non-Windows events in EventsManager 2012, the license type will switch automatically to a server license.
