You may need to reinstall the EventsManager Console and/or Database to resolve certain issues with the application (crashes, slow performance, etc), and you are looking for instructions for how to reinstall the same.
This article contains the steps that you are required to take for reinstalling EventsManager Console and Database.
Solution
Reinstalling EventsManager Console
- Take a backup of the configuration
- Click File and select Import and Export Configurations.
- From the Import and Export Configurations Wizard, click Export to export the desired configurations to a file.
- Click Next.
- Enter a name and destination where you want to save your backup configuration file.
- Click Next.
- Select the options you wish to export to the new GFI EventsManager Server. If you want to copy the entire configuration, click the Select All button, then click the Next button to proceed. The configuration is now exported.
- Make a backup of the C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\Database Server 2.1 folder (just in case).
- Back up ReportsHeader.xml (for the reports) from this location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\EventsManager13\Data\Reports - Uninstall Events Manager ONLY.
Note: Do not uninstall GFI Database Server 2.1 or data will be lost. - Download the EventsManager 13.2 executable then run it but only choose to install the Events Manager Console.
Very important Note: Ensure that after downloading the file, you UNBLOCK the file before extracting it. - Enter your license key.
It can be retrieved from the Accounts portal. - Import the configuration file.
Note: If you haven't backed up your configuration, you will have to manually: - Place the old ReportsHeader.xml in the same location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\EventsManager13\Data\Reports
Note: You can download the default ReportsHeader.xml file if needed and place it in the folder if the reports tab is empty. - Install the latest patches.
Note: It is also recommended to enable database rotation to maintain database with reasonable size.
Reinstalling Database only:
- Take a backup of the Databases folder just in case to ensure no data is lost.
Note: Do Not remove the EventsManager directories. - Stop all three Events Manager services:
- GFI EventsManager
- GFI EventsManager Monitor
- GFI Database 2.1
Check Task Manager after you stop all the EventsManager services and kill any EventsManager process.
- Uninstall GFI Database Server 2.1 from Programs and Features.
- Download the EventsManager executable then run it but only choose to install the Database 2.1, NOT Events Manager 13.2.
Note: During the reinstall, specify the original Databases folder for the database. - After the reinstall is complete, ensure the correct path is reflected in Configuration > Options > File Storage > Configure file storage...
Note: Ensure that the correct DB is selected in the Name dropdown. - Restart all Events Manager services.
